'Star Wars: The Force Awakens': Daisy Ridley on Playing Powerful Female Lead

"If I showed it to my little sister, I would be so pleased," she said.

As part of "Star Wars" week on ABC News' "Good Morning America," Ridley stopped by today to chat about her character and how Rey is even an inspiration for young girls and young actresses around the world.

Ridley has seen "The Force Awakens" and explained the really sweet way she kind of freaked out right after.

"I came out [of the film screening] and I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’m cool,’ and then I got in the car and I was like 'Wahhhh' the whole way. And then the whole way home," she added. "It’s the first time I’ve really seen myself do something, so I was quite overwhelmed."

The native of Westminster, U.K., said she feels that "for the last couple years I feel like I’ve been living in the Twilight Zone" as her acting career has absolutely taken off.

"Sometimes I look back on things and I’m like, ‘Ah,’ like the first few months of filming I cannot remember. I was just like overwhelmed and so emotional. So I think in a few years, to look back will be [nice]," she said. "But right now it just feels exciting. But also unreal. It doesn’t feel like it’s going on."

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" hits theaters on Dec. 18 nationwide.
