Stars React to Death of 'Titanic' Composer James Horner

— -- Stars are mourning the death of Oscar-winning composer James Horner, who was killed in a plane crash Monday.

The 61-year-old musician died when a small plane registered to him crashed near Santa Barbara. His death was confirmed by his agents Tuesday night.

"We have lost an amazing person with a huge heart and unbelievable talent," his assistant Sylvia Patrycja wrote on Facebook Monday. "He died doing what he loved. Thank you for all your support and love and see you down the road."

By Tuesday morning, celebrities in the film and music industries were taking to social media to mourn the death of the two-time Oscar winner and prolific composer, who penned the music for such classic films as "Titanic," "A Beautiful Mind," "Field of Dreams," "Braveheart," "Avatar," and "Apollo 13."

Celine Dion, who sang Horner's Oscar-winning song, "My Heart Will Go On," from the movie "Titanic," posted a statement on her website early Tuesday morning.

"Rene and I are deeply saddened by the tragic death of James Horner," Dion wrote, including husband and manager Rene Angelil. "He will always remain a great composer in our hearts. James played an important part in my career. We will miss him. We offer his family and friends our deepest sympathy."

Ron Howard, who directed "A Beautiful Mind," and its star Russell Crowe were among the stars who took to Twitter to express their grief and offer condolences.
