Ricci to Direct, Star in Speed Queen
August 20, 2001 -- Indie princess Christina Ricci will make her directorial debut with Speed Queen, a dark comedy in which she will also star, according to The Hollywood Reporter
Queen is about a fast-food clerk who goes on a lethal road trip with a man and woman and then tells her story to a best-selling author while on death row, notes the Reporter. Yep, that sounds dark enough for the sour-pussed star of The Addams Family, Sleepy Hollow, and The Ice Storm.
Financing for the film is still being finalized.
Ricci has already moved from mere actress to actress-producer with the upcoming films Prozac Nation and Pumpkin. The 21-year-old actress is also developing the action film Adrenaline as a starring vehicle for herself.
Her recent acting credits include the supernatural dud Bless the Child and the art-house flick The Man Who Cried.
