Shannen Doherty Leaves 'Charmed'
May 10, 2001 -- Shannen Doherty is retiring her magical spells.
The actress is leaving the WB series Charmed after three seasons, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Producers are encouraging the brunette to pursue other interests.
"We have had a long and prosperous relationship with Shannen and we didn't want to hold her back from what she wanted to do," Spelling TV said in a statement.
Recently, Doherty's off-screen life landed her in trouble; she pleaded no contest to DWI charges last month in California.
Doherty also packed up early from her last Aaron Spelling series. She walked out of Beverly Hills 90210 after four seasons on the teen show.
NBC Adds Links

NBC, which is releasing its fall schedule today, is expected to double up on The Weakest Link, with the game show airing twice a week. According to Inside.com, the network famed for its Thursday night sitcoms is adding more dramas than comedies to the fall slate.
Among the new offerings, former Law & Order legal eagle Jill Hennessy will play a coroner on Crossing Jordan and famed chef Emeril Lagasse gets a sitcom.
