ICP Manager Charged With Assault on Eminem Fan
May 11, 2001 -- The road manager for Detroit rap crew Insane Clown Posse was arrested Tuesday night in Omaha, Neb., after allegedly attacking a vocal Eminem fan.
Concertgoer Thomas Goonan was ejected from the band's concert at the Ranch Bowl after holding up a T-shirt with Eminem's likeness and throwing M&M candies at ICP rappers Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent J, according to police. Once outside, manager William Dail allegedly threw Goonan against a fence and choked him until he passed out.
After Goonan awoke, he reported the incident to police, who arrested Dail and charged him with misdemeanor assault and battery. He was released on $1,000 bail, and a hearing is pending.
Dail is the brother of Douglas Dail, the man Eminem was accused of threatening with an unloaded gun last June in Royal Oaks, Mich. Last month, Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, pleaded no contest to charges of carrying a concealed weapon and brandishing a firearm in public. He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 5.
Eminem has risen to superstar status on the backs of his two Dr. Dre-produced albums, The Slim Shady LP and The Marshall Mathers LP. Insane Clown Posse, who recently released twin albums Bizzar and Bizaar, has not sold as many records but has a loyal cult following.
