Zeta-Jones Didn't Have Eye Job, Rep Says
May 3, 2001 -- File this under "a story only a tabloid could love": An item in Thursday's London Sun claims that chestnut-eyed beauty Catherine Zeta-Jones has undergone eye enhancement surgery, also called an "eye tuck," in order to keep her sockets in tip-top shape.
The Welsh-born actress's rep, Cece Yorke, is adamantly denying the charges, giving Zeta-Jones' numerous public appearances as proof that her client never went under the knife.
"She has gorgeous eyes, and they're the same as they were," Yorke told Reuters Wednesday.
The Sun story reported that Zeta-Jones, who's just 31, underwent eye-lift surgery a few weeks ago in Los Angeles. But, as Yorke pointed out, the actress, who's married to Michael Douglas, has been repeatedly seen in public and extensively photographed since leaving the United States five weeks ago to go on vacation with her family.
If Zeta-Jones had had plastic surgery, Yorke said, she would have at least displayed physical evidence while she was healing. (Of course, there's always the possibility that Zeta-Jones sent her android replicate out to be photographed.)
"They've been all over the place, and she's been photographed all over the place and she looks the same to everyone else," Yorke notes. "There's your proof right there. It must be a slow week for the Sun."
Zeta-Jones, who is described as having "a glamour that transcends time," graces the cover of People magazine's "50 Most Beautiful" issue, which hits newsstands Friday.
