Rosie O'Donnell Released From Hospital
April 10, 2001 -- Talk show queen Rosie O'Donnell has been sent home after spending five days in a New York City hospital, where she was being treated for a staph infection in her hand.
According to USA Today, O'Donnell was admitted last Wednesday after going to the emergency room with "excruciating pain" in her hand, which is on the mend after three surgeries to repair a severed tendon. The bubbly host cut herself with a knife while on a fishing trip last summer and underwent another surgery days before she checked into the hospital.
O'Donnell's publicist told USA Today the media mogul is now at home recuperating with the aid of antibiotics. Various women from The View, including Barbara Walters and Joy Behar, are subbing for her until she returns, which could possibly be as soon as Monday.
O'Donnell, who just launched a women's magazine, is planning to leave her show when her contract expires in 2002.
