Mag Says Perry Was Hooked on Booze, Pills
March 8, 2001 -- Matthew Perry was apparently addicted to a dangerous cocktail of drugs and alcohol when he entered rehab last month, according to a story in US Weekly.
Perry, who entered an undisclosed treatment facility in February, was admitted to a rehab center in Marina Del Rey, Calif., after his actor father, John Perry, and the Friends star's doctors urged him to do so.
According to the mag's exclusive story, 31-year-old Perry had again succumbed to the painkiller Vicodin, which landed him in rehab in 1997. But that's not all: Perry was "riding a pharmaceutical roller coaster" of Vicodin, booze, speed, and methadone when concerned parties apparently checked him into the Daniel Freeman Hospital.
Perry, who was in the process of filming the comedy Servicing Sara in addition to his hit show, is hardly the only celeb to get hooked on Vicodin. US Weekly talked to rocker-actress Courtney Love for the piece, who told them, "Everyone who makes it starts popping [Vicodin] … I did it. I loved it. I also ended up in rehab."
