Jennie Garth Has Red-and-White Wedding
February 1, 2001 -- The former cast of Beverly Hills, 90210 gathered in a Santa Barbara, Calif., chapel to watch their friend Jennie Garth wed actor Peter Facinelli on Jan. 20.
The couple, who have a 3-year-old daughter named Luca Bella, met on the set of the aptly named TV movie An Unfinished Affair in 1995. They became engaged in 1999 during a nighttime dip in their Los Angeles swimming pool. Facinelli, 27, told US Weekly, "It was a really beautiful night, and everything was calm and still. I just decided right then and there."
Garth, 28, and her groom had a traditional Roman Catholic ceremony, as fellow 90210 grads Jason Priestley, Tori Spelling, Tiffani Thiessen, and Ian Ziering looked on.
Garth and Facinelli had contemplated eloping to Hawaii last year, but the actress told InStyle magazine that her husband-to-be talked her out of it. "… Peter said one of the main reasons to have a big wedding is to see me walk down the aisle in my dress," she explained.
The bride wore a custom-made white Reem Acra gown, with a train and hammered silver accessories. Her daughter, who wore a dress with princess sleeves, was the flower girl. Garth carried a spray of ruby red roses, her rep told Mr. Showbiz. The bridesmaids' gowns matched the garnet hue of the bridal bouquet.
The couple's reception was held at the luxurious Bacara Resort & Spa, where Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas were originally rumored to be marrying, before they chose the Plaza Hotel in New York City.
This is the second marriage for Garth, and Facinelli's first. The pair's nuptials will be featured on InStyle's celeb weddings special Monday at 8 p.m. on NBC, when the mag likely hopes to redeem itself for the untimely decision to put actress Courtney Thorne-Smith — who recently separated from her husband of seven months — on the cover of its bridal issue.
