D'Angelo, Pacino Welcome Twins

Jan. 29, 2001 -- Al Pacino has gone from The Godfather to fatherhood: His longtime companion, actress Beverly D'Angelo, gave birth to twins Thursday night in Los Angeles.

The couple's rep, Pat Kingsley, noted that they are the proud parents of a boy and a girl, each weighing more than 5 pounds. The infants are both healthy, she added.

The twins are the first children for D'Angelo, 46, who has been with Pacino, 60, for nearly four years. Pacino also has a daughter, Julie Marie, from his relationship with acting teacher Jan Tarrant.

Oscar winner Pacino had one other great accomplishment last week. The actor accepted the Cecil B. De Mille Award for lifetime achievement at the Golden Globes Jan. 21. His acting peers gave him a standing ovation, while Kevin Spacey introduced a series of clips from Pacino's star turns in The Godfather, Glengarry Glen Ross, and Scarface, among others.
