Damon Wayans' Wife Files for Divorce
Aug. 25, 2000 -- Comedian Damon Wayans’ wife of 16 years filed for divorce today, citing irreconcilable differences.
Lisa Wayans is asking for joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s four children, along with spousal support, attorneys’ fees, and costs, according to court documents.
The couple has been separated since May 21, according to a petition filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.
They wed April 24, 1984, nearly two years after the birth of Damon Wayans Jr., the first of their four children. They also have a son, Michael, 15, and two daughters, Cara Mia, 13, and Kyla, 9.
Lisa Wayans has been living in the couple’s Beverly Hills, Calif., home with the children since the separation, and her husband has been living in Santa Monica, Calif., according to court papers.

Damon also wrote for the show, which featured his brothers Shawn and Marlon and his sister, Kim.
His film credits include Roxanne, Mo’ Money, Colors, Major Payne, and Blankman, in which he starred as a nerd-turned-superhero. He appears in the upcoming Spike Lee film Bamboozled.
