Eager for 'Sex'? The Wait Is Nearly Over
According to an AOL/Moviefone poll, 'Sex and the City' is most anticipated film.
May 29, 2008 -- If fan boys everywhere are panting at the thought of this summer's heavily comic book-inspired movie roster -- crammed with names like Batman, Iron Man and The Hulk -- their girlfriends, or, perhaps, their imaginary girlfriends are drooling at the thought of donning their Manolos and teetering off to the theater to see Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte return in the long-awaited movie version of "Sex and the City."
Fans are more excited to see the big screen "Sex and the City" than any other film this summer, according to an AOL/Moviefone poll.
Michael Patrick King, the film's director, says he thinks the collision of estrogen and testosterone at the summer box office is terrific.
"I always wanted it to be a summer movie," King said, "and I always thought, 'I see what's gonna happen: 'Indiana Jones' is for the guys; 'Sex and the City' is for the girls.'"
The plot of the "Sex and the City" movie is heavily guarded, although shots from the set of Carrie (played by Sarah Jessica Parker) in a wedding dress seem to indicate that a marriage -– perhaps between Carrie and Chris Noth's Mr. Big -– is in store.
But Reel Talk's Alison Bailes believes there's got to be something more. "I don't really know where it's going to go," Bailes said. "I mean, we've all seen the pictures, but can it really just end in a big poufy wedding? I don't think so."
And if things with Carrie and Big aren't wrapped up in a nice little bow at the end of the film, there's always a sequel, right?
King said he hasn't thought that far.
"When I'm having good sex, I don't really like to think about if there's going to be more sex," he said. "I like to be right with the women I'm having sex with and it's these four ladies right now. So right now, it's not in my mind."
Kim Cattrall, who plays Samantha, offered her 2 cents: "I never say never. … Obviously."
