'Supernatural' Star Jared Padalecki Grateful for Fans' Support Through Depression

His fans honored the "Supernatural" star this weekend at Comic-Con.

He told Variety that during season 3 of his hit show, he broke down and was diagnosed with depression.

"A doctor came to set and talked to me for about 30 minutes or 45 minutes and said: 'Jared, I think you’re clinically depressed. I think I should write you a note and we can shut down production for five days and then we can take it from there.' And it kind of hit me like a sack of bricks," he said.

The 32-year-old actor said he looked out into the crowd and saw a bunch of lights, which he thought were cell phones. They were actually tea light candles with "Always Keep Fighting" on them.

Padalecki took to Facebook to thank his loyal and amazing fans.

"As I travel back to Vancouver from San Diego ... the enormity of what happened is finally starting to sink in," he wrote. "I am beyond moved. I feel so blessed, and grateful, and honored to be a part of the magical Supernatural Family."

He continued, "Sitting on that stage in Hall H, I initially mistook all of the lights for cell phone cameras. It's difficult to discern specific shapes and faces with all of those stage lights shining on you (and, it's quite intimidating up there, sitting in front of 6,500 people!!). Then, when I had a light given to me with an explanation of what it was and what it stood for, I was (and am still) gob-smacked."

The actor added that it was a day he would never forget and that he holds a light for all of those in attendance.

Stay classy, San Diego!
