Tina Fey Remembers Father in Touching Tribute
The comedienne released a statement honoring her late father.
— -- Tina Fey honored her late father, Donald H. Fey, 82, with a touching tribute, recalling his accomplishments as a father, husband, Korean War veteran, former firefighter, writer and poet.
"I also think of him as a Great American -- he served his country in Korea," said Fey in a statement released to Philly.com. "He served his city as a fireman, he took his kids regularly to art museums and historical sites."
Donald Fey died on Sunday, Oct. 18, of heart failure, Philly.com reported. He is survived by his wife Jeanne, son Peter, daughter Tina, one sister, two brothers, and three grandchildren.
In the statement, Fey also recalled a childhood memory of her and her father, and even managed to crack a lighthearted joke.
"When he taught me how to play baseball he would say to me, 'If you throw like a girl again, we're going in.' (I took it in the spirit it was intended)," Fey remembered. "He read poetry and history and newspapers. He was an informed patriot. The Republican Party should have tried to clone him."
