Why Tina Fey Doesn't Work With Amy Poehler All the Time
Fey spoke about her collaborator and why they shouldn't do everything together.
-- Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are like macaroni and cheese or peanut butter and jelly, they just work together. But that doesn't mean they want to work together all the time.
Fey, 45, spoke about her friend during the Storytellers part of the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival and explained why they haven't done a TV series together yet.
"We're regarded as comedy team ... [but] we're actually both alphas," she said of why they don't do everything together.
The genius behind "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" and "30 Rock" added that the duo "works [well] in short spurts," like on a movie or other short-term projects such as hosting the Golden Globes, but their dynamic may not work as well on something more long-term.
"I don't know if it would make a real dynasty," she continued.
She also talked about working with Poehler, 44, on "Sisters," the duo's latest comedy, out late last year.
The days were long, but she said she loved all the people she worked with and called it a "hot, sticky party."
While the world mourns the Fey and Poehler series that will never be, there will still be those glorious spurts she spoke about.
