Trisha Yearwood Hopes Her New Duet Album With Garth Brooks Is the 1st of Many
The county icon talks new album.
-- Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood were busy doing four shows this weekend in Richmond, Virginia, but the married couple and longtime collaborators also had something pretty special to celebrate — the long-awaited release of their very first full-length project, "Christmas Together."
“We’ve been talking about doing a duet album for years, and we’ve done a few duets, but we’ve never made a whole album,” Yearwood told reporters recently. “And it’s hard to find 10 or 12 songs that you both feel passionate about and then make them into duets. So Christmas felt like the right way to start that process. We’d like to make a lot of albums together. You know there’s so many Christmas songs to choose from, so many great duets.”
The collection also features another first: a Thanksgiving song the two wrote together, titled “What I’m Thankful For.”
“This album has a lot of duets,” she said. “But it also has some solo songs. So we got a chance to sing together and sing harmony on each other’s single records that we did. So it was really fun, and I’m hoping it’s the first of many.”
In fact, the couple already has at least one more duet in the bag.
You can hear “Whiskey to Wine” on Brooks’ new album. It’s available now as part of "The Ultimate Collection" at Target, and will also be part of the single-disc version of "Gunslinger," which comes out Nov. 25.
