'Twilight' Stars Embrace Fans at Comic-Con
Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner hit San Diego convention.
July 22, 2011 -- Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, the stars of the "Twilight" film series, were greeted like rock stars at their panel for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (Part 1)" at Comic-Con in San Diego, Calif., where their fans camped out for as many as four days to get a glimpse of their on-screen heroes.
Fans that were lucky enough to get into the event Thursday were able to catch a few minutes from the hotly anticipated first film in the final installment of the wildly popular teen romance novels.
One scene that drew a heated response from the loving crowd showed Bella and Edward, the characters portrayed by Stewart and Pattinson, on honeymoon in Brazil. The scene mixed humor with the movie series' trademark mooning by the two stars. Stewart is shown fretting about her first night of marriage, shaving her legs and trying to choose what to wear.
Throughout the day at the annual fan convention, the film's star and supporting cast ran the gauntlet of media and fans. It began early in the morning with a few of the series' newer talents greeting some of the long-waiting fans by bringing them coffee.
Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Elizabeth Reaser, Julia Jones and Boo Boo Stewart brought beverages and signed autographs, hanging out with grateful fans. The actors were joined later by the star trio of Pattinson, Stewart and Lautner for news conferences, panels and interviews.
One of the panel's memorable moments came when a young female audience member asked Pattinson, "Rob, do you like having a baby with Bella?" to the delight of the audience. Pattinson, slightly flapped, stammered a reply that the girl maybe didn't realize the double meaning of her question before launching into an answer of how he loves babies.
The first three films in the "Twilight" series have grossed more than $1.8 billion worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo.
"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (Part 1)" is slated to open in theaters November 2011.
