Vice President Joe Biden to Introduce Lady Gaga at Oscars
Biden will be introducing Lady Gaga for a performance at the Oscars on Sunday.
-- Vice President Joe Biden is heading to Hollywood this weekend, where he will take the stage at the Academy Awards as a special presenter.
According to a White House official, Biden will be introducing Lady Gaga's performance of her nominated song "Til It Happens To You" from the documentary "The Hunting Ground," about campus sexual assault.
Biden has been an outspoken advocate of the White House's "It's On Us" campaign to battle sexual assaults on college campuses nationwide. The official said Biden will promote the campaign directly to the Oscars' audience when he introduces Lady Gaga.
Also attending the ceremony in Los Angeles with the vice president will be his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, who teaches English at a community college.
Previously, First Lady Michelle Obama appeared live via video in 2013 to present the Best Picture Oscar to "Argo."
Late last month, President Obama weighed in on the racial controversy surrounding this year’s ceremony, telling a group of local reporters, "I think when everybody's story is told, then that makes for better art."
