Wes Craven Dead at 76: Celebs Pay Tribute
The iconic director passed at 76.
-- Iconic horror film director Wes Craven died Sunday at the age of 76.
He had been battling brain cancer, according to a statement from his family.
As expected, actors from his films like "Scream" and "A Nightmare on Elm Street" paid homage to the man who came up with some of the most creative and terrifying movie experiences of all time.
"Wes Craven was one of the finest men I have ever met in my life," David Arquette, who starred in 1996's "Scream," said.
He continued, "An inspirational director, and a professor dedicated to passing on his knowledge to future generations. He was also an avid bird watcher, which just shows you considering his work, the depths of his sensitivity and range as a human being. I will miss him dearly and I will cherish all the wisdom he shared with me. I send my thoughts, love and prayers to his family."
Arquette's co-star and ex-wife from "Scream," Courteney Cox, added on Twitter, "Today the world lost a great man, my friend and mentor, Wes Craven. My heart goes out to his family."
