WWE Wrestler Daniel Bryan to Retire
The former champion said it is due to medical reasons.
-- Former WWE champion and professional wrestling star Daniel Bryan is retiring.
"Due to medical reasons, effective immediately, I am announcing my retirement. Tonight on Raw, I'll have a chance to elaborate. #gratitude," he tweeted on Monday.
The 34-year-old, born Bryan Lloyd Danielson, is a former heavyweight champion who got his big break on the WWE show "NXT." He first won the U.S. Championship in 2010, followed by other belts and honors, including the 2013 Superstar of the Year Slammy Award.
Bryan was also known for his relationship and marriage to fellow WWE star Brie Bella, which was featured on the show "Total Divas." Bryan started to withdraw from matches in 2014 due to injury.
According to WWE.com, Bryan is retiring from "in-ring competition."
