Zelda Williams Announces Social Media Break Before 2-Year Anniversary of Father's Death

Robin Williams's daughter told Twitter followers that she will be logging off.

"Tata for now!" she tweeted with a heart emoji. She also included a statement explaining her decision.

"So it's that time of year again. I will be taking another break off social media," she explained. "For those who always ask why, it's so people can memorialize Dad on the anniversary of his death however they wish without me having to feel bombarded by it, pr pressured by the expectation put on myself or my family to publicly acknowledge or join in doing so."

She continued, "I will always be so grateful for all the love the world had and continues to have for dad, but for obvious reasons, it's sometimes harder to be the sort of surviving public vessel for receiving those sentiments, and one often expected to somehow flawlessly express them back."

Williams, 26, is Robins' daughter with his ex-wife Marsha Garces.

She encouraged those looking to commemorate her father's life to honor him by contributing to a cause he supported, such as the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, dedicated to improving the quality of life of people with spinal cord injury and finding cures, and the Challenged Athletes Foundation, which supports athletics for people with physical challenges.

The late actor's daughter also took a social media break at this time last year. Pairing her post with a photo of the sky, she wrote: "It's a time better served away from the opinions or sentiments of others, and I appreciate your understanding."
