Zendaya Debuts Her Look-Alike Barbie Doll, Thanks Mattel for the 'Honor'
The 19-year old actress posted a heartfelt message on Instagram.
-- After much anticipation from fans and the starlet herself, the Zendaya Barbie doll is finally here.
Zendaya hosted the Barbie Rock 'N Royals Concert Experience on Saturday at the Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood, CA, where she proudly debuted her new Barbie doll on the red carpet.
"We are so excited to honor Zendaya with this one-of-a-kind doll as she encourages girls to Raise Their Voices and inspires us to #BeSuper," reads the official Barbie Instagram account.
The "KC Undercover" star posted a side-by-side comparison photo of herself and the Barbie doll on Instagram.
The doll replicates Zendaya's Vivienne Westwood look from the 2015 Oscars Red Carpet, which was controversially criticized by Giuliana Rancic on E!'s "Fashion Police".
"When I was little I couldn't find a Barbie that looked like me, my...how times have changed," wrote the 19-year-old actress.
"Thank you Barbie for this honor and for allowing me to be apart of your diversification and expansion of the definition of beauty."
Rapper Nicki Minaj, who also had a Barbie doll made in her resemblance, congratulated Zendaya on Instagram.
"I love your doll's hair," said Minaj. "I love what it means for other little girls who will identify with it & be empowered."
The rapper joked that her Zendaya's Barbie dolls should have "matching bff Barbie cars with the dreamhouse to match."
