Designer Duds That Don't Break the Bank

How to get the "Sex and the City" look on a "Married With Kids" budget.

May 23, 2008— -- You don't have to break the bank to wear the fashions featured in the new "Sex and the City" movie.

After four years, the ladies from the hit HBO series are back, and we have a sneak peek at their trendsetting looks in the upcoming movie. Even better, "Good Morning America" has the secret to sexy fashions on skinny wallets.

Getting the stars' big-screen designer duds without the big designer price tags can happen. Suze Yalof Schwartz, Glamour magazine's executive fashion editor, takes actual looks from the upcoming movie and shows us how to get Miranda, Charlotte, Samantha and Carrie's unique styles on a budget.

"We get to showcase these wonderful clothes," said Cynthia Nixon, who plays Miranda in the series and the film. "The clothes make it enormously popular."

Carrie Bradshaw

Carrie, played by actress Sarah Jessica Parker, was a fashionista that always had the cutting-edge style. In the film, Parker's character had 81 clothes changes — including donning a designer pantsuit. Along with Manolo Blahnik shoes, Carrie wears a Ralph Lauren top, vest and pants.

We've found a pantsuit that some of us might actually put on, for a fraction of the price!

Vest: Express, $69

Shirt: Lord and Taylor, $79

Pant: Zara, $39

Shoes: Aldo, $49

Total: $236

Charlotte York

Kristen Davis played Charlotte, the "Park Avenue Princess." She was known as the conservative woman, always pretty in pearls. In one of the movie's memorable fashion turns, she dons a Ferragamo dress, Louboutin heels and a Chanel bag.

But getting the Park Avenue look for less is easy!

Dress: Lord & Taylor, $150

Belt: Michael Kors, $395

Shoes: Steven, by Steve Madden, $69

Bag: The Limited, $54

Total: $668

Miranda Hobbes

Miranda, played by Cynthia Nixon, may have been the character with the biggest fashion evolution during the series. She went from frumpy suits to softer, more feminine clothes. In the movie, she wears expensive Gucci heels, but her dress by Maggy London is a reasonably priced piece for everyday women.

Along with the actual look, we've added affordable accessories.

Dress: Maggy London, $168

Earrings: Zad, $9

Belt: Bendel, $195

Shoe: Nine West, $89

Bag: Nine West, $54

Total: $515

Samantha Jones

Kim Cattrall played Samantha, the character known for vamping it up in sexy clothes for New York's nightlife. But by day, she was a successful businesswoman who owned her own PR firm — and dressed professionally. In the film, she wore a Theirry Mugler jacket, a Valentino skirt and carried a Fendi tote.

We have her work outfit for all of the working women out there!

Blazer: Zara, $59

Skirt: Zara, $59

Bag: Coach, $395

Belt: Club Monaco, $69

Shoe: Steven, by Steve Madden, $99

Total: $681

"The fashion really is different," Sarah Jessica Parker said about the new movie, to be released next weekend.

But one thing remains the same: the attempt to make red-carpet fashions affordable for everyday folks.
