Statement from Dorel Juvenile Group

— -- Dorel Juvenile Group Issues Statement Regarding the 2009 Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) Booster Seat Report

Foxborough, MA (December 22, 2009) -- Safety is Dorel Juvenile Group's top priority and our main focus is to make sure all of our Car Seats meet or exceed government crash test regulations and perform well in actual use, which they do.

As part of our continuous process of developing and improving our car seats, we work with the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and other agencies and use their criteria as a component of our new product design.

DJG has also conducted hundreds of crash tests to ensure the crash worthiness of our child restraint seats. According to the test report that we have seen, the IIHS's test simulates only one size child in one position. Dorel Juvenile Group tests the fit of the seats with children of different weights and sizes in different vehicle types to evaluate real life fit and to ensure we make a safe product to protect children. In addition, the IIHS has not performed any crash testing to confirm the fit recommendations are supported by performance criteria.

Booster seats are an effective restraint and they reduce the risk of injury and the risk of fatality.

Kids come in all sizes and we encourage parents buying a new booster seat to try out different options and choose the one that is the best fit for their child and their vehicle. Dorel Juvenile Group recommends placing your child in an age/weight/height-appropriate car seat to enhance your child's safety whenever they are riding in a motor vehicle.
