Aly Raisman pens emotional note to 'heroes' who reunited her with missing dog Mylo
The Olympic gold medalist's dog went missing in Boston on July 3.
Olympic gold medalist Aly Raisman has been reunited with her lost dog, Mylo, who vanished in the Boston area on July 3.
The athlete confirmed Friday in an emotional Instagram post that Mylo had been located.
The following day, she took to Twitter to shout out everyone who helped find him.
"Over the last week so many people helped support me, gave me great advice & calmed me down during such a scary time," Raisman wrote. "I want to thank Beth Corr & @MissingDogsMass , Jamie from packleader pettrackers & his dog Dexter, Karen, Tammy, Leslie, @EGAPLRI shelter, Rachel Bradley."
She continued in another tweet, "The outreach from the members of the community (both near and far) who helped search and put up flyers, as well as those who offered emotional support and well wishes are so appreciated. The Boston community is incredible."
Adding that she was helped by a number of "supportive" individuals, Raisman continued, "Thank you to the media for helping me get the word out. Last but not least, thank you to my amazing parents who slept at my place & helped me look for Mylo. There were many sleepless nights."
She said her parents' support "meant so much" because she didn't have to be alone during what she described as one of the "toughest weeks" of her life.
"I am so thankful & grateful for the positive ending to a difficult journey," she wrote.
She ended her emotional message with a fifth tweet that read, "I hope I can help others the way that you all have helped me. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I will never forget your kindness."
Mylo, whom Aly rescued last year, was spooked and took off after fireworks were set off nearby. In a tweet, Raisman clarified that she did not take her pup to see the fireworks.
"Also by the way… I didn't take Mylo to see fireworks," she wrote. "I live in the city & they're very loud. I didn't realize how many animals go missing during the 4th weekend because of fireworks."
