Bindi Irwin shares photo of her new tattoo done in her father Steve's handwriting
The new ink represents the "three most important things" in her life.
Bindi Irwin shared a photo of her new tattoo. The 23-year-old wildlife conservationist and "Crikey! It's the Irwins" star posted the snap of the new ink on her forearm -- the words "graceful warrior" next to a drawing of an alligator -- on Friday.
"The words I spoke to our daughter as I held her for the first time in my arms were, 'My graceful warrior,'" she explained about the tattoo in the caption of her post, mentioning her daughter, Grace Warrior. "That’s how her name was born."
She alo said the tattoo honored her late father, Steve Irwin.
"This is my dad’s handwriting to keep him with me, always," she wrote. "Our dear alligator, Daisy, is next to these words to represent our conservation work as Wildlife Warriors. And my beautiful wedding ring in bloom."
She said the new tattoo served as "validation every day of the three most important things in my life: family, purpose and unconditional love."
In the post, Irwin also said that she felt like it was "the perfect time for this empowering artwork" because she has finished breastfeeding her daughter.
Bindi's husband, Chandler Powell, praised the design in a comment on the post: "Such gorgeous artwork❤️ You amaze me every day. Each one is meaningful to mark this special time in our life together. Also, the Florida in me loves the alligator. 🐊 Love you so much."
Bindi and Powell welcomed Grace Warrior Irwin Powell on March 25, 2021. In the birth announcement, Bindi explained the significance of their daughter's name.
"Grace is named after my great-grandmother, and relatives in Chandler’s family dating back to the 1700s," she said. "Her middle names, Warrior Irwin, are a tribute to my dad and his legacy as the most incredible Wildlife Warrior. Her last name is Powell and she already has such a kind soul just like her dad."
