Britney Spears says she feels 'blessed' after legal victory of hiring new attorney
Mathew S. Rosengart is the pop star's new legal representation.
Britney Spears let her followers know she is happy with the recent developments of her conservatorship case after being allowed to hire her own lawyer.
On Wednesday, the 39-year-old singer post a video of herself on Instagram horseback riding and doing cartwheels in the grass. Alongside the post, which was fittingly set to KT Tunstall's "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree," she wrote, "Coming along, folks ... coming along."
"New with real representation today ... I feel GRATITUDE and BLESSED," Spears continued. "Thank you to my fans who are supporting me ... You have no idea what it means to me be supported by such awesome fans !!!! God bless you all !!!!!"
She concluded, "Pssss this is me celebrating by horseback riding and doing cartwheels today," adding #FreeBritney, directly mentioning the fan-led movement aimed at seeing Spears regain control over her life and career.
Spears' boyfriend, Sam Asghari, wrote in the comments of her post, "Internet is about to explode."
Fellow pop star Ariana Grande also chimed in, writing, "YOU ARE SO VERY LOVED AND SUPPORTED."
The post comes after the court approved Spears' request to appoint high-powered attorney Mathew S. Rosengart as her new legal counsel for her conservatorship case.
During the July 14 hearing, Spears addressed California Superior Court Judge Brenda J. Penny and stated her desire to have her father, Jamie Spears, who is conservator of her estate, removed from her conservatorship.
"I am here to get rid of my dad," she said.
"My dad needs to be removed [from the conservatorship] today," she added, clarifying that she approved of Jodie Montgomery's job as conservator of her person.
Vivian Thoreen, Jamie Spears' attorney, later stated there have been "a lot of misstatements" in Britney Spears' testimonies.
Spears has been in a conservatorship for 13 years, since it was established in 2008 when she was hospitalized for mental health reasons.
