'Game of Thrones' actors submitted themselves for Emmy consideration
HBO did submit Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, Maisie Williams and others.
Three "Game of Thrones" actors would not have earned Emmy nominations yesterday had they not submitted themselves for consideration.
A spokeswoman for HBO confirmed to "Good Morning America" on Wednesday that the network did not submit Alfie Allen, Gwendoline Christie and Carice van Houten, all of whom were recognized by the Television Academy.
HBO did, however, submit Emmy nominees Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams, the representative added.
"Game of Thrones" earned 32 Emmy nominations yesterday -- more than any other show has for a single season, ever. Allen was nominated in the dramatic supporting actor category, alongside his co-stars Coster-Waldau and Dinklage; Christie was nominated in the dramatic supporting actress category alongside Headey, Turner and Williams; and van Houten was nominated in the dramatic guest actress category.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, each actor paid $225 to enter themselves into contention, and while they were not officially submitted by the cable network, they will now receive "the full HBO push moving forward."
