Harry Styles' mom opens up about his love of 'fancy dress'

The singer wore a dress on the cover of Vogue recently.

Harry Styles' Vogue cover, which features him wearing a Gucci gown, has garnered some criticism, but Styles has never been one to abide by by sartorial rules.

Now, his mother is taking some of the credit for her famous son's fashion fearlessness.

Appearing on the U.K. talk show "Lorraine," Styles' mom, Anne Twist, was asked about the Vogue spread, which also features the singer's sister, Gemma.

"I think maybe I had something to do with it, because I was always a big fan of doing fancy dress with them when they were smaller, which Gemma hated, but Harry always embraced," she said. "Who doesn't love playing dress-up?"

In the Vogue article, Styles confirmed his mother's assertion.

"As a kid I definitely liked fancy dress," he said.

Once, he said, he got to dress up as a mouse in a school play, and the experience left a lasting impression.

"I was really young, and I wore tights for that," he recalled. "I remember it was crazy to me that I was wearing a pair of tights. And that was maybe where it all kicked off!"
