‘Hocus Pocus 2’: Everything we know so far

Excitement is brewing over the upcoming "Hocus Pocus 2" film and we have everything you need to know so far about the highly-anticipated sequel.
The film, which will be released on Friday is directed by Anne Fletcher, the director of "Step Up," "27 Dresses," "The Proposal" and "Hot Pursuit." The script was written by Jen D'Angelo.
Production on the film began last year with filming taking place in Rhode Island.

What is 'Hocus Pocus 2' about?
The Sanderson sisters return in "Hocus Pocus 2" after three young women accidentally bring them back on Halloween.
The official synopsis for the film reads: "It's been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high school students to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before dawn on All Hallow's Eve."
Where can I watch the 'Hocus Pocus 2' trailer?
The first official trailer for "Hocus Pocus 2" dropped at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California. The one minute and 53 second trailer features the three witches from the iconic first film: Winifred, Sarah and Mary Sanderson, which are played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy, respectively. The trailer shows a flashback scene of the Sanderson sisters as young girls when they were banished from Salem and when Winifred is gifted her iconic one-eyed spellbook. The trailer then jumps to three hundred and seventy years later to present day Salem and introduces a string of new cast members including a young girl played by Whitney Peak ("Gossip Girl").
In June, fans got a sneak peek of what to expect from the upcoming film when Disney dropped a one-minute and 21-second teaser trailer.

When does 'Hocus Pocus 2' premiere?
Fans can celebrate the start of spooky season with "Hocus Pocus 2" when it streams on Disney+ starting Friday, Sept. 30.
Have any new clips from the film been released?
In mid-September, the first official clip from the new movie was shared on social media. Winifred, Sarah and Mary are seen taking to the skies using whatever they can find in a store, a nod to the first film in which Sarah uses a mop and Mary uses a vacuum cleaner to fly.
This time around, Sarah uses a Swiffer and Mary finds a robotic vacuum cleaner, while Winifred sticks to a traditional broom.

Since, then several clips have been released ahead of the premiere date. One is when the Sanderson sisters meet two teenage girls who brought them back from the dead on accident. The other is fans getting a look at a new character's encounter with zombie Billy Butcherson.

Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy reprise their roles as Winifred, Sarah and Mary Sanderson, respectively. Also returning from the grave is Doug Jones as zombie Billy Butcherson.
Also starring in "Hocus Pocus 2" is Sam Richardson ("The Tomorrow War"), Hannah Waddingham ("Ted Lasso"), Whitney Peak ("Gossip Girl"), Belissa Escobedo ("American Horror Stories"), Lilia Buckingham ("Dirt"), Froylan Gutierrez ("Teen Wolf") and Tony Hale ("Veep").
Will Thackery Binx return?
In a report from Entertainment Weekly, Jason Marsden, the actor who played Thackery Binx, the cursed cat in the first film, will not return in the new film.
Omri Katz, Thora Birch and Vinessa Shaw (Max, Dani and Allison, respectively, who battled the witches in the 1993 film), also will not return in the sequel.
