The cast of "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice' dazzled on the red carpet on Wednesday for the Venice Film Festival.
Jenna Ortega, Winona Ryder, Catherine O'Hara, Michael Keaton, Justin Theroux, Tim Burton and more stepped out in glamorous looks for the event, which kicked off with the world premiere of Burton's highly-anticipated sequel.
Ahead of the premiere, Burton and the cast all attended a press conference to talk about the film.
"The funny thing about 'Beetlejuice,' as much as I love it, I never quite understood why it was a success," Burton said about revisiting the story after the first "Beetlejuice" film premiered in 1988.
"I never could palace it to anything except something personal to me, then after all these years being able to work with Winona and Catherine again on it -- just made it more personal, more special with Jenna, Monica and Willem and Justin -- new people that just got into the spirit of it and felt it, so it was a very very personal project for me," he added.
The sequel will follow the Deetz family -- Delia (O'Hara), Lydia (Ryder) and Lydia's daughter, Astrid (Ortega) -- dealing with an "unexpected family tragedy" and returning to their home in Winter River.
According to the synopsis for the film, "Astrid discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally reopened."
"Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" hits theaters on Sept. 6.
