"The Elephant Whisperers" won the Academy Award for best documentary short film.

Other films nominated in the category included "Haulout," "How Do You Measure a Year?," "The Martha Mitchell Effect" and "Stranger at the Gate."

"All Quiet on the Western Front" won the Academy Award for best international feature film.

This is the third win in the best international feature film category for Germany. After thanking his entire crew, including the movie's costume designer, production designer and hair and makeup designer, director Edward Berger said, "I owe everything to you."

The other films nominated in the category included, "Argentina, 1985" (Argentina), "Close" (Belgium), "EO" (Poland) and "The Quiet Girl" (Ireland).

Host Jimmy Kimmel delighted the audience when he brought out a special guest during the ceremony: a donkey.

The appearance was a reference to Jenny the donkey, the famous animal that appeared in "The Banshees of Inisherin."

Kimmel joked that the donkey was a "certified emotional support donkey," saying, "If you are feeling upset or anxious or maybe you just love mules, feel free to come up and give her a hug."

"The Banshees of Inisherin" star Colin Farrell blew the donkey a kiss from his seat in the audience, while co-star Brendan Gleeson waved.

Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava got the Oscars audience off their feet with their performance of “Naatu Naatu” from the film “RRR,” which is nominated for best original song.

In an interview last month with “Good Morning America,” “RRR” actor Ram Charan, who stars in the music video, said filming took place in the Mariinskyi Palace in Kyiv, Ukraine, before the war began.

Award-winning talk show host Jimmy Kimmel is hosting tonight’s ceremony.

This is Kimmel’s third time hosting the show. He first hosted the Oscars in 2017, and then again in 2018.

During an interview on “Good Morning America” earlier this week, Kimmel said he had thought about how he’ll address Will Smith’s now-infamous slap from last year’s Oscars.

“I know that a million jokes have been made about it, a million think pieces have been written on it,” he told “GMA” co-anchor Lara Spencer. “There has been a lot said about it, so whatever I say has to be I think -- you know, it has to be good.”
“And I do have some good things to say about it. I think that it’s gonna be on everybody’s mind,” he added. “Everybody’s gonna be waiting for that moment. And that will be part of the show, but certainly not the focus of the show.”
