'Queer Eye' star Jonathan Van Ness celebrates husband getting his green card
"So happy to have this process in our rearview."
It's official: Jonathan Van Ness' husband, Mark Peacock, is not going anywhere after receiving word he is now a permanent resident of the United States.
The "Queer Eye" star celebrated the good news on Monday, sharing a photo of him embracing his significant other, who is from London, in front of U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services.
"Yay he’s staying," Van Ness celebrated, noting the magnitude of the moment. "Today as a queer person who wouldn’t have been able to marry the person they love just 6 years ago, our rights can’t be taken for granted!"
"So happy to have this process in our rearview," the 34-year-old television personality gushed. "Green Card YAS!"
Van Ness' friends were quick to offer their congratulatory marks, including "Queer Eye" co-star Tan France, who said, "YAY! Such wonderful news that he now has a green card!!" Bobby Berk also cheered, "Shantay you stay!!!!"
Others extending their excitement was "Game of Thrones" alum Lena Headey, "Bridgerton" star Nicola Coughlan and singer Brandi Carlile.
Van Ness previously announced he and Peacock secretly tied the knot sometime last year, telling fans in the New Year's-themed post, "I got married to my best friend & have a loving partner to continue building my life with."
Later, while not disclosing when the two became exclusive, he revealed that he began dating Peacock after "a date in London, which turned into more dates whilst I was on comedy tour."
