Make-A-Wish Foundation

For more than 20 years, this foundation has been making dreams of children with life-threatening conditions come true. From taking children snowboarding to introducing them to the Jonas Brothers, this organization tries to bring joy during a difficult time.

Dream Factory

This organization has granted more than 25,000 dreams since it was founded in 1980, according to its Web site. It seeks to help kids ages 3 to 18 who are critically or chronically ill.

Starlight Children's FoundationThis foundation seeks to help children with life-threatening illnesses or serious injuries and their families through providing activities, education and entertainment, according to its Web site.

Children's Miracle Network

The Children's Miracle Network raises money for more than 170 children's hospitals around the country, according to its Web site. The funds go to medical care, research and education.

Dream FoundationThis organization's goal is to make dreams come true for adults with life-threatening illnesses.
