Kelly Stafford, daughters surprise Matthew Stafford with the cutest cheer before NFL season opener

Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford had the cutest surprise before kicking off his team's NFL season opener against the Chicago Bears Sunday.

Stafford was cheered on by his wife, Kelly Stafford, and their three young daughters, who donned Lions cheerleader uniforms and pom poms to surprise their dad with a "let's go Lions" chant.

The family cheered for Stafford outside of Ford Field in Detroit, where the Lions took on the Bears in front of an empty stadium due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"Thank goodness we aren’t allowed in, we need some serious practice before we are game ready," Kelly Stafford captioned the video on Instagram, adding the surprise was a "moment I will never forget."

Kelly Stafford, 31, gave birth to the couple's fourth child, a girl, this summer, just one year after she underwent a 12-hour surgery to remove an acoustic neuroma from her cranial nerves.

She has documented her recovery on social media, sharing her battle to relearn to walk and overcome extreme fatigue.

"If there's anything I want people to take away from my story, it's for mothers," Kelly Stafford wrote in a first-person essay for ESPN last year. "If you ever feel the slightest bit off, you need to take the time to get it checked out. You don't have to put everything on your back. Sometimes, you need to take some time to make sure you are OK."
