Mom of 10 shows off meal-making superpowers in viral video
After nine years of infertility, Alicia and Joshua Dougherty now have 10 kids.
Alicia Dougherty is going viral on TikTok for her impressive meal-prepping skills.
The 40-year-old mom of 10 says some of the family's favorite meals include Taco Tuesday, breakfast for dinner and spaghetti. She said she spends at least $1,000 a week on food and an hour prepping food in the morning.
"We've had a lot of fun just sharing our story on TikTok," she said in an interview with "Good Morning America."
Alicia's journey to motherhood has been a long road. She said she'd tried to have a baby with her husband, Joshua Dougherty for nine years. They experienced 11 miscarriages before they decided to adopt in 2011.
But then, just six days after adopting their first child, Alicia found out she was pregnant.
Over the course of eight years, the Doughertys' family story has expanded, and they now have 10 children -- four of whom are biological and six who they adopted from the agency Children Awaiting Parents.
The Doughertys' children -- Harlee, Bodhi, Jason, Jordan, Dash, Zoey, Bree, Patrick, James and Alex -- range in age from 2 to 15.
"I got on TikTok during the pandemic because I was losing my mind and it just became this fun thing for us to do," Alicia said of her meal-prep videos.
The family now calls itself the "Dougherty Dozen" and shares its life with more than a million TikTok followers.
The family's account features videos of everything from trips to the laundromat to information about adopting children.
"I think there's just this part of our story that inspires others ... You don't have to be perfect and you don't have to be a picture-perfect, cookie-cutter family. You can be amazing and just show up," Alicia said.
The Doughertys are not done growing just yet.
"We are definitely going to adopt again," Alicia said. "We're going to focus on teenagers, since they're the least likely to get adopted."
