Van Leeuwen now makes ice cream bars in 6 dairy and vegan flavors

The cult-favorite ice cream now comes chocolate coated on a stick.

A cult-favorite ice cream brand has added ice cream bars to its sweet dairy and vegan frozen dessert lineup.

Brooklyn-based Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, recognized nationally for its from-scratch dairy and vegan ice creams, announced the launch of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream Bars on Thursday.

The highly anticipated treats include both dairy flavors and vegan flavors, made from the same premium ingredients the brand is known for.

The three dairy-based flavors are Vanilla Caramel Swirl, Toffee Brown Sugar, and Raspberry Cheesecake; the three vegan varieties, made with an oat milk base, are Vanilla Wildberry Swirl, Brown Sugar Honeycomb, and Triple Chocolate Swirl.

"We haven’t been this excited about a product launch since we introduced our vegan line eight years ago -- ice cream bars have long been a dream for us at Van Leeuwen," co-founder and CEO Ben Van Leeuwen said in a statement. "We’ve spent the past 12 months perfecting every element and we are blown away by what we have been able to create."

He said the new creations are "enrobed with thick, custom blended, high-quality, fair trade chocolate and crunchy coatings that create an entirely new Van Leeuwen experience."

The latest debut for the brand is a nod to nostalgia for co-founders Pete and Ben Van Leeuwen, who grew up driving an ice cream truck in the summer and selling ice cream on sticks.

Van Leeuwen Ice Cream Bars are available in 4-packs through Van Leeuwen’s online store for nationwide shipping.

Starting in March 2021, the bars will be available in select grocery stores across the country including Whole Foods, Giant, Central Market, Big Y and Heinen’s.
