Oscar Night Style

Recipes for Oscar Night

Marinated Goat Cheese

1 10-14 oz. fresh goat cheese log

2 Tbs. finely chopped shallots

2 Tbs. chopped fresh chives

1 tsp. fresh thyme leaves

2 Tbs. snipped fresh tarragon

freshly ground black pepper

1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

1 baguette sliced and toasted, or 1 box puff pastry sheets or crackers

Directions:

Place the cheese on an attractive plate. Top the cheese with the remaining ingredients inthe order they appear. Lastly drizzle with the olive oil, then serve with the toasted baguetteslices .

To make the puff pastry squares

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.

Lay the thawed puff pastry sheets on a parchment lined sheet pan.

Cover the puff pastry with another sheet of parchment paper.

Stack three sheet pans on top of that . Place in the hot oven . Bake for 10minutes until pastry is golden on top.

Carefully turn the pastry.

Cover and bake another 10 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the oven .

Remove the sheet pans from covering the pastry. Let coolcompletely, then cut into 1 1/2 inch squares.

Spiced Nuts

Just be sure to roast one type of nut at a time because the cooking time may vary for each type of nut.

2 Cups Shelled Pecans, Almonds , or Walnuts

1 egg white

1 Tbs. Fleur de Sel or Kosher salt

1 tsp. finely ground black pepper

1 tsp. garlic powder

1/2 tsp cayenne

1 tsp dried thyme

3 Tbs. sugar

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Spread the nuts out evenly on a sheet pan. Beat the egg whites until frothy. Pour over nuts and toss until they are evenly coated with the egg whites.

In a small bowl combine the remaining ingredients with a small wire whisk. Toss the nuts with2-3 Tbs. of the spice mix, depending on the type of nut until they are evenly coated.

Place in a preheated oven and roast. Toss with a metal spatula after 5 minutes and continue roasting 10 more minutes and up to 20 minutes, depending on type of nut, until nuts are golden and crispy. Let coolcompletely before serving.

Prosecco Bar

You'll also need some fresh fruit and fruit juice. Let your guests choose and maketheir drinks and you are off to a great Oscar Party!

1 bottle Prosecco

1 /2 cup raspberries

1/2 cup rinsed, hulled and quartered strawberries

1 cup fresh cubed small pineapple

1 cup cranberry juice

1 cup pineapple juice

Directions:

Chill the Prosecco. Prepare the fruit.

Set out the juice.

Assemble the drinks and cheers

Serves 4-6
