How to Talk to Your Family About Drug and Alcohol Addiction

Millions of people do not get the treatment they need.

March 17, 2010— -- This morning "Good Morning America" brought you the story of Amanda, a 31-year-old mother who was suffering from an addiction to alcohol and heroin and was profiled in a TLC series called "Addicted."

Unfortunately Amanda's story is common throughout the United States. More than 20 million people needed treatment for drug or alcohol abuse but did not get it, according to a 2007 survey by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

Kristina Wandzilak, from Full Circle Intervention, spoke about addiction today and how families can help. For additional information below are some resources to help you and your family address this difficult problem.
