'Come Together' Grand Finale for Hunger
Check back for Emeril Lagasse's dinner dare recipes.
Oct. 20, 2009 -- A six-week initiative that raised millions of meals to feed hungry Americans ends Wednesday.
"Good Morning America" joined with Macy's and Feeding America for the project dubbed "Come Together," through which people were encouraged to throw dinner parties and invite their guests to donate money to Feeding America.
Macy's matched every dollar that was donated. Each dollar will purchase seven meals to benefit food banks nationwide, almost all of which reported increased demand this year.
"Good Morning America" celebrated the project's finale with a live Emeril Lagasse dinner dare.
Check back later to find the recipes that Emeril created and prepared.
More and more out-of-work professionals from America's middle class are seeking help, Feeding America's president and CEO Vicki Escarra told "Good Morning America" at the start of the donation drive.
About one out of every 10 people -- men, women and children -- does not have enough food, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
