Flavor Point Diet, Day 14: Bell Pepper

Jan 29, 2006 — -- "Good Morning America" medical contributor Dr. David Katz has come up with a diet that promises to let people eat all their favorite foods and still lose weight.

After conducting extensive research at the Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center, Katz found that by following flavor themes each week, dieters could reach the flavor point at which they'd feel completely satisfied and full.

Combining his medical knowledge with his wife's expertise -- she is a neuroscientist as well as a gourmet cook -- Katz has created a diet that he says will result in people eating less not because they are starving themselves but because they feel full.

Day 14: Bell Pepper Day

Breakfast

Bell Pepper and Cheese Omelet

1 slice whole grain toast, plain or with 1 tsp Smart Balance spread

OR

3/4 cup whole grain cereal with 1/2 cup fat-free milk

Mid-morning Snack

Up to 18 baby carrots with Bell Pepper Yogurt Dip

Lunch

Roasted pepper, avocado, and hummus sandwich (2 slices whole grain bread, 2 oz roasted bell peppers, 3 tbsp hummus, 1/4 ripe black avocado, and alfalfa sprouts to taste)

Mid-afternoon Snack

2 Wasa Rye Crispbreads with Bell Pepper Yogurt Dip

Dinner for Four

Mexican Stuffed Bell Peppers

1 lb sautéed frozen whole-kernel sweet corn

Tossed Garden Salad (page 211; add 1/2 cup chopped bell pepper)

Dessert for 4 (optional)

Fruit salad (2 cups cubed cantaloupe, 2 cups cubed honeydew, and 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen raspberries); 1 1/3 cups per person
