Pupperware: At-Home Shopping Trend for Dogs

Aug. 24, 2006 — -- There's a new twist on a Tupperware party that combines two of Americans' favorite pastimes -- throwing at-home shopping parties and spoiling their pets. They're called "pupperware" parties.

There are new products galore to help make your dog look and feel debonair. So if Fido is going to be your date, you have to outfit him with the latest in socially appropriate gear. Maggie Gallant, a pet trend expert for Animal Planet, told "Good Morning America" about some hot, new luxury dog products that have turned up at "pupperware" parties.

Gourmet Treats

Pup-Pies French-Apple-Flavored Mini Pies. All natural: Made from wheat and corn, they're soy-free.

Doggie Donuts. All natural with carob frosting.

These are both human-friendly treats.

Water Bowls

Cosmo-Paw-Litan by Muttropolis. It's a 16-ounce ceramic bowl -- handmade -- and can be purchased in a gift set with a "cocktail napkin" and a drink-appropriate lemon or olive squeak toy.

Doggie Beds

The "Furcedes" by Haute Diggity Dog. It is shaped like a Mercedes and looks like a race-car bed for kids.

The "Sniffany" by Haute Diggity Dog. It is a flat pillow that looks like a Tiffany's box.

The "Naplap Pet Bed" by Shure Pets. Made out of denim, it looks like a stuffed pair of jeans and duplicates the comfort and security of your own lap. This new therapeutic denim bed is washable and comes with a removable liner. It's great for cats and dogs under 20 pounds. It makes for a great clawing diversion and includes pockets to hide treats or catnip.

Dog Beauty Aids

"Devine canine breath mints" by Shure Pets. Neutralizes downright dastardly dog breath.
