Inside Winnie Harlow's Met Gala red carpet beauty prep

The model stepped up her game for her second Met Gala.

For Winnie Harlow, the 2019 Met Gala was the ultimate night of dress up.

"I get to be whoever I want to be and I actually get to be my truest self," Harlow told "Good Morning America" as she got ready for the annual fashion gala that's become one of the highest-profile nights of the year.

At 24, it wasn't even the model's first time attending.

"This year is a lot more calm," Harlow said on Monday night before the red carpet. "We've done it before, so we have a grasp on what we have to do."

Harlow interpreted the Met Gala's 2019 theme, "Camp: Notes on Fashion," by paying homage to her Jamaican roots.

"I'm going with Tommy Hilfiger for my second year in a row," Harlow said. "We've collaborated to create this amazing sheer dress that kind of emulates the look of a costume for Carnival in the Caribbean."

But before the beading, the feathers and the flare, it was just us and Winnie. The mode went through her pre-red carpet routine of jamming to some music and drinking a glass of champagne.

"I typically like to pray before big events like this," said Harlow. "On the flip side, I like to have a little glass of champagne to calm the nerves."

Harlow joined Met Gala royalty Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian West and Jennifer Lopez, just to name a few, on the red carpet and wowed with her beaded gown and jeweled headdress.

Another style choice we loved on Harlow was that she opted for a short blond hairdo.

"I've never done this hair before and it's something that I really wanted for Met," Harlow told "GMA." "I feel the most beautiful when I have my hair done."

Same girl, same.
