Katy Perry sings The Beatles' beloved 'All You Need is Love' for Gap's holiday campaign
The global superstar's first paying job was folding fleeces at the Gap.
Gap has tapped Katy Perry to not only headline the brand's 2021 holiday campaign but to also help spread love this season.
While we are used to seeing the global superstar all glammed up or in full costume, this time around, she's dressed down in a cozy chic look for the retailer's "All Together Now" campaign.
Perry also stars in a commercial singing a rerecorded version of The Beatles' beloved 1967 hit, "All You Need is Love," which was inspired by a time period defined by changemakers.
"Reimagining one of the most recognizable and emotional songs of our time with an iconic brand like Gap, having such a special and important message, has been a dream," said Perry in a statement.
Starring in a Gap campaign comes as a full-circle moment for Perry as her first paying job at 16 was folding fleeces at the Gap in Santa Barbara, California.
In 2002, her fiancé Orlando Bloom also starred in his own "Love is All Around" Gap campaign similarly titled to Perry's new "All You Need is Love" spot.
"Music and culture have always been part of Gap's heritage," said Mary Alderete, global head of Gap marketing in a statement. "When Gap first opened in 1969 with the fresh idea of selling denim next to a curated selection of records, Gap also committed to a founding principle – do more than sell clothes."
Alderete continued by sharing that together with Perry, they will help children in need this holiday season with a donation to Baby2Baby, which is a nonprofit organization that provides children living in poverty with all the basic necessities.
Along with these strides, the Gap is also planning on advancing "a brighter future rooted in optimism, inclusion, and leading with love," as stated by Alderete.
Gap has committed to donating $1 for every stream of Perry's "All You Need is Love" on Spotify, up to $100,000, to Baby2Baby.
Throughout the campaign, the "Dark Horse" singer is seen wearing several of the Gap's classic go-tos, such as the Gap's arch logo hoodie, a denim jacket and vintage soft joggers.
She also wore a 100%-recycled cropped puffer that's perfect for fall and the upcoming winter season.
Luckily, these looks aren't being withheld just for Perry. Cozy up with some of the looks worn for "All Together Now" just ahead.
