Margot Robbie stuns in Chanel, channeling Cindy Crawford circa 1993
The dress was first worn in a 1993 collection at Paris Fashion Week.
This year's Met Gala attendees delivered on the haute couture fashion theme honoring Karl Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty, with countless styles inspired by his own look and famed designs at Chanel.
Margot Robbie channeled Cindy Crawford as she ascended the iconic steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a recreation of Crawford's black Chanel dress from Paris Fashion Week in 1993.
According to Who What Wear associate director of fashion news Erin Fitzpatrick, Crawford first wore the gown on the runway for Chanel's spring/summer '93 collection "with a PVC cutout and gold chain detail at the waist."
Many A-list ladies continued to follow the micro trend that popped up earlier this year on the Oscars' champagne carpet with lingerie-inspired silhouettes showing off delicate details, materials, exposed boning, lace and paneling.
