Oct. 8, 2010— -- Fall is a great time for weddings.
Brides magazine says October has become one of the most popular months to tie the knot, in part because of the gorgeous colors, cozy settings and discounted costs.
This Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010 -- or 10/10/10 -- is very popular. More than 30,000 couples will say "I do" on Sunday -- which is more than 10 times the average, according to Brides magazine.
The magazine's editor-in-chief, Millie Martini Bratten, visited "Good Morning America" today to talk about the hottest trends for fall weddings.
She said fall weddings were different from the typical June nuptials because they tended to feature rich colors, cozy atmospheres and themes that reflect the couple's lives.
Here's how she broke down what's hot for fall:

The Bridesmaids
The trend: Short dresses in rich colors. Amethyst and teal are hot this season.

The Bride
The trend: Layers on the bottom, sleek on top. Faux fur, a trend for the fall, could make a great shrug to keep the bride warm for an outdoor ceremony so she doesn't have to cover her dress with a coat. Fashion-forward brides can wear the shrug after the wedding. Pair it with jeans and boots.

The Reception
The trend: It used to be that decor themes were just about the choice of color, but now couples are thinking in broader terms. Global, tribal and exotic have become huge trends, and couples are drawing on cultural influences from their backgrounds or their travels.
Dessert
The trend: It's more than just wedding cake. Whimsical, portable miniature desserts are all the rage. Also trendy are throw-back desserts, childhood favorites and anything that's reminiscent of simpler, more carefree times.
Help Those in Need
Brides magazine is spearheading White Hot Hope, a program to raise money for charity. When engaged couples shop for their wedding any of the retailers who are participating in the program, they'll help raise money for Operation Smile and Dress for Success.
