India.Arie Kicks Off 'GMA's' Winter Concert Series

The Grammy Award-winning singer performed "Pearls" from her latest album.

Jan. 5, 2010— -- India.Arie kicked off the start of "Good Morning America's" Winter Concert Series this morning by performing "Pearls" off her new album "Testimony: Vol. 2, Love and Politics."

The album has been nominated for three Grammy Awards. But she was anxious during the recording of the album, Arie, 34, told "GMA" anchor Robin Roberts today.

"I took a lot of risks, musically," the Denver native said. "And, personally, I put a lot of myself in there.

"Heartfelt [risks], and it feels good to jump out there for something you feel strongly about."

The two-time, Grammy Award-winning vocalist, who plays guitar and flute, burst onto the music scene in 2001 with the release of her album "Acoustic Soul."

All of Arie's albums have been nominated for a Grammy, adding up to 20 nominations. "I'm counting my blessings 20 times," she told Roberts.

Arie and Roberts co-wrote the song "A Beautiful Day," from "Testimony: Vol. 2, Love and Politics."

The collaboration came about after Roberts took a test that matched her personality with a profession. The test indicated she could be a lyricist.

"[The song] really touched a lot of people," Roberts said. "We heard from so many people that 'A Beautiful Day' really starts their day."
