Gwen Stefani Performs on 'Good Morning America'
March 22, 2005 -- -- She's been known as the lead singer of the hit band No Doubt for years, and today on "Good Morning America" pop diva Gwen Stefani brought down the house performing songs from her solo album, "Love. Angel. Music. Baby."
Stefani and special guest Eve performed the single "Rich Girl," which the two recorded for the album. Stefani also performed "Hollaback Girl."
"Love. Angel. Music. Baby." is Stefani's first solo album and contains tracks she recorded with artists like Dr. Dre, Andre 3000, Bernard Sumner and Peter Hook from New Order and The Neptunes.
Flying Solo for the Moment
Stefani began with the "rude boys" of No Doubt back in 1986, playing the local clubs and bars of California's Orange County. Five years later, the band signed with Interscope Records and embarked on a career that made the lead singer a star.
From those humble beginnings, Stefani and No Doubt have become three-time Grammy winners and the band's catalog now contains four platinum-plus albums.
Stefani said the break from the boys in No Doubt has been a welcome one, allowing her to take her "one-woman musical shock-and-awe campaign" on the road with a new cast of characters.
But Stefani said on "Good Morning America" that she and the other members of No Doubt have been "flirting with doing another record," and that she is looking forward to get back into the studio with them.
A Multi-Talented Performer
Stefani, who is married to Gavin Rossdale of the band Bush, has more than musician listed on her resume.
She made her movie debut as Jean Harlow in the Oscar-nominated film "The Aviator." And she recently released her own clothing line called LAMB, which stands for Love.Angel.Music.Baby., and is modeled on her own hip, iconic style.
Stefani says she's not trying to achieve certain goals, she's simply living out her dreams. Right now she's looking forward to taking a little breather from her hectic schedule.
"I'm trying to put it in slow motion," she said.
