Kate Middleton's Travel Style: You Don't Have to Be a Royal to Dress Like a Princess

Kate Middleton's royal dresses can be yours for a fraction of the original cost.

July 8, 2011 -- Kate Middleton set the fashion bar high at her lavish royal wedding to Prince William in April and now she's wowing the world again with her stylish fashion choices on her first official trip overseas.

The Duchess of Cambridge may have packed no less than 40 designer dresses for her North American tour.

But you don't have to have a royal budget or an overseas trip planned to look like a princess. People StyleWatch took three of Kate's glamorous looks and recreated them at a price within your budget.

Kate Dimmock, fashion director for People magazine's StyleWatch, appeared on "Good Morning America" today to show you how you can get Middleton's style for less.

Lace Navy Dress

Middleton made her Canadian debut in a navy, lace Cecile shift scoop-backed dress by Erdem Moralioglu featuring sheer lace sleeves accented by scallop detail.

Kate has worn a few navy blue outfits along the trip, and the great news is it's a flattering shade for all skin tones. The lace is sexy, but Kate makes it appropriate with a buttoned-up neckline and sleeves. The nude shoes help to lengthen her legs. Nude and navy are a great color combination and perfect for summer.

Cream Wrap Dress

To celebrate Canada Day, Middleton transformed the nation's colors, red and white, into a fashion statement with a cream, wrap-style dress by Reiss featuring ruffle details and a low neckline. She accessorized the look with the queen's maple leaf brooch, red pumps and, of course, a signature hat, in this case a maple-leaf fascinator by Sylvia Fletcher at Lock and Co.

This dress is sleeveless, unlike Kate's. White dresses are very in for summer; they have replaced your standard little black dress. The straw bag is also nice and summery and adds good texture to the outfit. Additionally, the model is wearing four flowery red barrettes, which have the same feeling as Kate's fascinator, but is a more wearable, accessible look. The red accessories help make the outfit and are a great way to add color.

Long-Sleeved Purple Dress

Middleton upped the glam factor later in the day on Canada Day, changing into a long-sleeved purple dress by Issa and Prada heels to join Prince William for an evening concert held to commemorate the nation's 144th birthday.

Bright, saturated colors are a big trend this season. The sleeves and silhouette of this dress are universally flattering, and black heels finish off the look. The silver abstract pin helps to pull the outfit together and is an interesting accessory.
