Kiefer Sutherland Says He ‘Waited 30 Years’ to Work With Dad Donald
Kiefer and Donald star in “Forsaken,” which hits theaters Feb. 19.
-- Kiefer Sutherland is starring in a new film with his dad, “Hunger Games” star Donald Sutherland.
The younger Sutherland sat down with “Good Morning America” co-anchor George Stephanopoulos today to discuss the Sutherlands' new western “Forsaken." Kiefer admitted that he was so enamored with his father’s performance, he forgot his own lines.
“You have to understand, I’ve wanted to work with my father for 30 years,” Kiefer said.
The father-son pair appeared together in the 1996 film “A Time to Kill," but their characters never exchanged dialogue.
“I think I kept waiting for this perfect piece of material to land on my desk and it never did and at some point I just realized maybe I should take it upon myself to try and help develop that material and so that’s what we did,” Kiefer said.
“The experience is something I will never forget,” he continued. “It was the most time I’ve actually spent with my father [at] one time in my life and it’s a memory and an experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life.”
“Forsaken” hits theaters Friday, Feb. 19.
